A bimetallic thermometer is a type of temperature sensor that uses the principle of thermal expansion of metals to measure temperature. It consists of a bimetallic strip, which is made by bonding two different metals with different coefficients of thermal expansion. When the temperature changes, the strip bends due to the unequal expansion of the two metals, and this mechanical movement is converted into a temperature reading.
How It Works:
1.When the temperature increases, the bimetallic strip bends toward the metal with the lower thermal expansion rate.
2.When the temperature decreases, the strip bends in the opposite direction.
3.This bending motion is mechanically linked to a pointer, which moves across the scale to indicate the temperature.
